Warner Brothers has released a teaser trailer for their upcoming sci-fi sequel Mad Max: Fury Road. Head inside for a look at the newly released preview after the break.
Mad Max: Fury Road is a project that has been many years in the making. It will serve as the fourth installment in the series. The film is being directed and co-written by George Miller, creator of the Mad Max franchise. It is currently slated for a May 15, 2015 release.
The intent to add a fourth installment to the Mad Max franchise reportedly dates back to the ’90s. But the film didn’t get off the ground until the early 2000s. In 2003, Mad Max: Fury Road was green lit for a budget of up to $100 Million and entered preproduction. However, the picture was reportedly identified as potentially politically insensitive in light of going into production so close to 9/11. Fury Road was then put on hold indefinitely. Several years later, the possibility of an animated 3D version of the project was announced. But that idea was ultimately abandoned, as well. 2009 brought news that a live action 3D version of Mad Max: Fury Road was on the way. After more false starts and speculation as to whether or not Mel Gibson would appear in the film, it was announced that Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron would be playing the lead characters. After even more delays, Mad Max: Fury Road finally began principal photography in Namibia. After all of that, we finally have a trailer to prove it is really happening!
