Halloween Redux Picking Up Steam, Secures 2018 Release Date!

Halloween Most outrageous deaths in the Halloween franchise - Halloween Returns

It seemed as though progress had come to a screeching halt on the upcoming Halloween redux. But all is not lost. In fact, we have some major news to share with you regarding the recently announced franchise reboot. John Carpenter took to Facebook to share a huge update regrading the future of the latest film and when we can expect to see it! See Carpenter’s full post below!

“So you say you want a Revolution? You want to shake things up and bring back Halloween and make it rock again? Well so do I. So here’s the announcement you’ve all been waiting for: David Gordon Green and Danny McBride are joining the project to complete the creative team. David and Danny will write the script together and David will direct. I will continue in my executive producer role to consult and offer my advice and feedback as needed.David and Danny both came to my office recently with Jason Blum and shared their vision for the new movie and…WOW. They get it. I think you’re gonna dig it. They blew me away. I might even do the music. Maybe. It could be kind of cool. And you’ll get to see it in theaters on October 19th, 2018.”

Green and McBride seem like an odd choice (the duo previously collaborated on Pineapple Express and Eastbound & Down) but I am prone to take Carpenter at his word.

As we previously reported, Blumhouse, Miramax, and Trancas International Films are partnering to produce the next installment in the Halloween franchise. This news was originally reported following the news that Dimension has lost the rights to the series.

Prior to losing the rights, Dimension was in development in a new Halloween film with Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. Halloween 3D was reportedly set to pick up after the events of the second film and would not tie in to Rob Zombie’s reboots. It’s unclear where this new incarnation will take the action but we will keep you apprised as we learn more.

Make sure to stay tuned to the site in the coming months for more updates as they are announced
