After their stellar showing in Mad Max: Fury Road (review here), Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult are set to reunite for the upcoming thriller, Dark Places. Based on the novel by bestselling author Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl) and directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner (Walled In), Dark Places is a story of murder, mystery, and possibly a Satanic cult.
Theron plays Libby Day, the lone survivor of a gruesome massacre that took place when she was only a child and ended with her brother sent to prison for the murders. Fast forward to the present and she is still haunted by the the events of that night when Hoult’s Lyle Wirth suggests that things may not be as they seem. Enter, “The Kill Club,” a group of amateur crime investigators set to help her unravel the truth about what actually transpired and potentially prove her brother’s innocence.
Boasting an ensemble cast of Chloe Grace Moretz (Let Me In), Christina Hendricks (Drive), and Corey Stoll (Marvel’s Ant-Man) on top of the aforementioned Theron and Hoult, Dark Places is definitely one to keep an eye out for.
