According to several casting websites, Zombieland 2 is aiming to begin lensing this summer. The production aims to shoot in Atlanta this August. This isn’t a guarantee that will actually happen but it’s a damn good start. This comes on the heels of the film’s logo being teased at CinemaCon.
As for who will be returning, we don’t have official word on that, yet but in a recent interview with EW, Jesse Eisenberg confirmed that he and his other costars are more than willing to return for a Zombieland follow up, as long as the script is good.
The film was adapted for an Amazon Prime pilot a few years ago but the content provider declined to take it to series, stating that their demographic wasn’t necessarily the right fit for the Zombieland target audience. Stay tuned to the site in the coming months for more on this project and other genre related offerings as it is announced.
The first film takes place in a post-apocolyptic reality where almost all residents of the US have been turned into bloodthirsty zombies. A group of four survivors band together in an attempt to take on the undead and live another day. The group is comprised of a young man trying to return to his hometown to reunite with his family, a loner in search of the last Twinkie on earth, and two young ladies on their way to an amusement park.
