World War Z Sequel Confirmed for Summer 2017

World War Z 2

Good news for fans of the Brad Pitt starring World War Z: Not only has Paramount confirmed that a sequel to the 2013 blockbuster is in the works, in a slightly unorthodox movie, they have already revealed a targeted release date for the project. It seems unusual to announce a release date two years in advance but it’s happening more and more frequently as of late. Head inside for the full announcement.

According to the studio, the film will see release June 9, 2017. And the follow up effort to the most profitable zombie film of all time has already attracted some high profile talent, with Steven Knight (Eastern Promises) scripting and Juan Antonio Bayona (The Orphanage) set to direct. The film’s IMDb page also suggests that Pitt will be reprising his role as Gerry Lane.

An official title has yet to be announced but hopefully it won’t be World War Z 2 as that is a bit of a mouthful. Oh well, there’s plenty of time for the studio to come up with anything but that.

No official word on where the sequel will take the storyline but stay tuned to the site in the coming months for more details on this project as they are announced!
