Adam Green (And Victor Crowley) Shock The World With Surprise New Hatchet Movie!

The popular Hatchet movies that star Kane Hodder as horror character Victor Crowley.

Last night, on August 23, 2017 fans, celebs and journalists gathered at Hollywood’s Arclight Cinema for what they believed was a tenth anniversary celebration for Adam Green’s slasher fan favourite, Hatchet.

Instead, Green, alongside the likes of Horror Icon Kane Hodder (who played killer Victor Crowley in the Hatchet trilogy) and long-time buddy (and star of Green’s TV show Holliston) Dee Snider shocked the assembled crowd by instead premiering Victor Crowley, a fourth installment in the series that has been in the works for two years and, up until now, we didn’t even realise existed.

Set a decade after the events of the first three movies, Victor Crowley reunites Hodder with original Hatchet star Parry Shen “for an all-new, horrifying journey into the haunted, blood-drenched bayou.”

The official synopsis is as follows:

In 2007, forty-nine people were brutally torn to pieces in Louisiana’s Honey Island Swamp. Over the past decade, lone survivor Andrew Yong’s claims that local legend Victor Crowley was responsible for the horrific massacre have been met with great controversy, but when a twist of fate puts him back at the scene of the tragedy, Crowley is mistakenly resurrected and Yong must face the bloodthirsty ghost from his past

Joining the cast are Green’s Holliston colleague Laura Ortiz (who also starred in 2006’s Hills Have Eyes remake), Scary Movie‘s Dave Sheridan and, in a fun little twist, Brian “Q” Quinn, one of the stars of truTV’s hugely popular Impractical Jokers.

Hardcore fans will note Quinn previously revealed, on his episode of Green and Joe Lynch’s fan favourite podcast The Movie Crypt, he would be a part of the writer-director’s new movie. Little did we know it would be a Hatchet flick.

Of the surprise new movie, Green said: “I couldn’t be happier to partner with Dark Sky Films and bring Victor Crowley back to horror fans around the world. Resurrecting the series for its tenth anniversary was our way of saying thank you to everyone in The Hatchet Army and beyond who have supported this series since its inception. This bloodbath is for all of you.”

Victor Crowley is set to hit select US theaters in October of this year (take that, Jigsaw) as part of Dark Sky Films’ Victor Crowley Road Show, wherein Green, and select cast-members, will travel around with and introduce the new movie at special, one-night festivals worldwide, echoing Green’s last movie, Digging Up The Marrow, which he toured in a similar manner.

On foot of last night’s big reveal, the organisers of Frightfest, which kicks off tomorrow in London, also made a shocking announcement that the planned Hatchet tenth anniversary screening scheduled for Saturday, August 26 is actually the European premiere of Victor Crowley.

Wicked Horror will be there to catch it, so keep your eyes peeled for our review once the festival wraps.

Victor Crowley plays Frightfest 2017 on Saturday, 26th August 2017 at 8.45PM in the Main Screen and at 9.15PM on the Arrow Video Screen. The full festival line-up of films is available on their official site, where all ticketing information can also be found. Wicked Horror will once again be there, to bring you all the must-read reviews and exclusive interviews from this year’s festival. So stay tuned.
