Vampire Mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows Acquired for Distribution

What We DO in the Shadows - vampire movies that went overlooked.

The Wrap has reported that the vampire mockumentary What We We Do in the Shadows has been picked up for distribution. The film was acquired via a three way partnership between The Orchard, Unison Films, and Funny or Die. The trio plans to release the film across several different platforms. However, a release date has not yet been determined.

The division of responsibilities between the three entities will see The Orchard handling stateside DVD, digital, and broadcast distribution; Unison will be responsible for the picture’s U.S. theatrical release; and Funny or Die will be focusing their efforts on marketing the film through their website and social media.

What We Do in the Shadows has garnered rave reviews from its run on the festival circuit. It currently holds a 95% ‘fresh’ rating on the aggregate review site Rotten Tomatoes.

The film is written and directed by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi who previously collaborated on the HBO series Flight of the Conchords. Waititi and Clement both have starring roles in the film as well.

The mockumentary will follow three vampires who live together as roommates. The picture will chronicle their day-to-day struggles as they cope with everyday problems, like paying rent or quarreling over household chores, as well as tackle more unique issues like where to find human blood.
