The Woman in Black: Angel of Death, is the upcoming 2015 British horror sequel to the hit horror to be directed by Tom Harper (Misfits), and written by Jon Croker (Desert Dancer).
Although popular in the first, Daniel Radcliffe isn’t back for the sequel. Our heroes in The Woman in Black: Angel of Death are psychiatric nurse Eve Parkins (Phoebe Fox- Black Mirror), and Harry Burnstow (Jeremy Irvine- War Horse). The sequel is set during the Second World War and revolves around the government seizing of Eel Marsh House, which they decide to turn into a military mental hospital. Eve the young nurse is sent to the house to care for the patients, but soon realizes she must save them from more than their own demons. Despite Eve’s efforts to stop her, one by one they fall victim to the Woman in Black.
For those who missed it, The Woman in Black was a fairly average but atmospheric and effective (mainly by its location and sound design) horror film. Radcliffe played a young, recently widowed lawyer who heads to Crythin Gifford and the remote Eel Marsh to sort out a deceased woman’s papers. Before long he realizes that the house is haunted by a tortured, malevolent spirit that has been killing off local children for years.
James Watkins’ 2012 popular period original; The Woman in Black based on the novel by Susan Hill, was the highest-grossing British horror film in 20 years. There’s no surprise there’s a sequel, but expectation levels are high for Angel of Death.
For those who may have forgot about The Woman in Black, just remember; “She never forgives, she never forgets” and “she never left.”
