As we explained in a previous post, Bruce Campbell will be involved in multiple capacities but most importantly, he will be reprising his role as Ash! In addition to Campbell being featured in a starring role, we have learned that Sleepy Hollow‘s Jill Marie Jones will be joining the series as well. She will play Michigan State Trooper Amanda Fisher.
Jones is joined by Ray Santiago and Dana Delorenzo in leading roles. Ray Santiago (Dexter) will play Pablo Simon Bolivar and Dana DeLorenzo (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) will be featured as Kelly Maxwell.
Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Bruce Campbell will be executive producing the series. We also previously told you that Raimi has signed on to direct the first episode for the cable network. The series will be filming on location in New Zealand this Spring and is set for a late 2015 premiere. We will bring you more specifics on the premiere date as they are passed on to us!
Sam Raimi. offered the following about the series: “Evil Dead has always been a blast. Bruce, Rob, and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell the next chapter in Ash’s lame, but heroic saga. With his chainsaw arm and his ‘boomstick,’ Ash is back to kick some monster butt. And brother, this time there’s a truckload of it.”
Bruce Campbell said this of the franchise being adapted for the small screen: “I’m really excited to bring this series to the Evil Dead fans worldwide – it’s going to be everything they have been clamoring for: serious deadite ass-kicking and plenty of outrageous humor.”
In the original The Evil Dead, Ash, his girlfriend, and a couple of their buddies trek to a cabin in the woods for a break from the pressures of school, studying, and day-to-day life. Shortly after the friends arrive at their destination, they discover The Book of the Dead and tape recordings of incantations from the book. Against their better judgment, they listen to the spells and unleash an ages old evil that rises from the woods and attempts to take possession of each and every one of their souls.
