Shining Parody The Chickening is as Odd as it is Funny!

The Chickening

The short film The Chickening has played the festival circuit, notably making an appearance at Sundance, and now it has hit the web.

The somewhat NSFW film comes from Nick DenBoer and Davy Force. The duo (who have previously worked with Adult Swim) take clips from Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining and add a hefty helping of computer generated imagery and voiceover effects to make the film about a sinister fast food franchise, instead of a haunted hotel. More specifically, it tells the tale of a family that becomes involved with Charbay’s Chicken World, a fast food chain with questionable moral values. When the family patriarch takes a job as a night  manager with the chain, a sinister barbecue sauce recipe causes him to turn into a chicken-human-hybrid.

The directors have called the short “a sampling of things to come,” noting that they have a longer version mapped out already and that they can apply the technology used here to nearly any film. You can check out the short for yourself in the player below! Do take note of the fact that the film is fairly NSFW. And be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!
