Robert Englund Says He is Open to Playing Freddy One Last Time [Seriously]

Freddy Krueger - Robert Englund

Robert Englund dropped by Access Live to promote his upcoming appearance on Wednesday’s episode of The Goldbergs. And this time, he had a decidedly different response to the age old question: “Will you ever play Freddy Krueger again?” Rather than responding with a hard pass, Englund said, “I think they want to reboot the franchise, but they’re gonna need a new actor. They’re gonna need a new actor to play Freddy because they’re gonna have to do eight of them. I might have one left in me… but yeah.

Less than a year ago, Englund told CinemaBlend that he was too old to play Freddy. As such, even suggesting that he might have one more film in him is music to our ears. Will it happen? Who knows. But we’re holding out hope that the man who made Freddy a household name will give us one more nightmare. The entire interview with Access Live is available here.

’80s throwback sitcom, The Goldbergs stars Wendi McLendon-Covey, Sean Giambrone, Troy Gentile, Hayley Orrantia, and Jeff Garlin. It is (loosely) based on the (young) life of series creator Adam F. Goldberg. It airs Wednesdays on ABC at 8PM.
