the craft - Feminism in the craft

We have just learned (via TrackingBoard) that a new writer has been brought on board to take a crack at the screenplay for Leigh Janiak’s upcoming sequel/remake to/of The Craft. The outlet reports that Daniel Casey (10 Cloverfield Lane) will be the latest to take a crack at the script (the previous versions was written by Janiak and Phil Graziadei.

Last we heard, the project wasn’t supposed to be so much of a remake as a continuation of the story that takes place twenty years later. However, TrackingBoard did refer to the project as a remake. The redux/sequel will reportedly be connected to the original with callbacks connecting the two projects.

The latest installment will see another group of young women discovering the power of ‘The Craft’. Previous reports have suggested that the feature will be as much of am emotional journey as anything.

Up-and-coming director Leigh Janiak (Honeymoon) has been tapped to helm the project. Stay tuned for more on this as it breaks!
