NYDailyNews has reported the body of a brutally beaten Ohio woman was found hanging from a fence, where it was initially mistaken for a Halloween decoration.
Rebecca J. Cade of Chillicothe was found by construction workers hanging by her shirt sleeve from the chain-link fence near an American Electric Power site location on Tuesday morning. The contractors had first thought it was a spooky display for the upcoming Halloween holiday, before realizing the body was actually a real woman. One neighbor who saw the body thought it was a Halloween prank.
The woman’s body dangled, as her sleeve was caught high on the fence. Police said she had obvious injuries, but deny that the body was mutilated.
A murder charge based on information from an informant, reported that officials said the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head and neck and “defensive wounds” were found on Cade’s arms. A “large rock the size of an orange or grapefruit” was found at the scene with blood on it. Officials said it could be the murder weapon.
The man was arrested and charged with murder in connection with Cade’s death, 27-year-old Donnie Cochenour Jr., waived his right to a preliminary hearing earlier in the day and was taken back to jail on a $2 million bond. His case will be taken to a grand jury, which convenes again Oct. 23rd.
Since last year, four other women have been found dead in the area and police say the victims were connected through heroin use and prostitution. Police did not link Cochenour to the previous homicides.
