Dead Rising

The Wrap reports that Legendary Pictures Digital division has chosen Leprechaun: Origins director Zach Lipovsky to direct the feature film adaptation of the popular video game Dead Rising. An exclusive distribution deal has already been struck with Crackle. The film will make its exclusive digital premiere via the streaming content provider . After the exclusivity period, the film will be released on TV, SVOD, VOD, and DVD. Overseas distribution will be handled by Content Media Corp.

The script for the upcoming film is penned by Tim Carter (Sleeping Dogs). Carter will also produce along with Tomas Harlan through their production company Contradiction Films.

The Capcom video game Dead Rising concerns a photojournalist named Frank West. West becomes trapped in a shopping mall  in a fictional Colorado town, post zombie apocalypse. He then sets out to uncover the reason for the outbreak and help to rescue any fellow survivors confined to the shopping center with him.
