Ghostbusters Reboot Will Feature an All Female Cast and is Going to Be Scarier than it is Funny

Ghostbusters sequel has been discussed for so long I couldn’t tell you when the scuttlebutt began. But we finally have definitive proof that movement is happening in the franchise. The news is not sequel related but it’s movement nonetheless. Not entirely surprisingly, the franchise is slated for a reboot rather than a third installment. The reimagining will be comprised of an all female cast and is intended to be much scarier than the original film and its 1989 sequel.

Entertainment Weekly interviewed Paul Feig – who is helming the reboot – and got the details on the upcoming project. Feig has enlisted the services of Katie Dippold – who wrote the script for the Feig directed comedy The Heat – to pen the screenplay for the Ghostbusters remake.

Feig was initially approached by Sony to helm a third installment in the franchise but was reticent to take on such a daunting task. When he mulled over the idea, he decided that a reboot with an all female cast would alleviate a lot of his concerns about revisiting the world outlined in the first two films.

As of now, the cast is not set in stone but Feig says that he has several people in mind that he would love to work with. We will have more details on the reboot as soon as they are made available.
