Attendees of Horror Channel Frightfest 2016 are really going to be spoiled rotten, as this year’s event looks set to be the biggest and best yet.
Along with an already-released list of films including Rob Zombie’s 31 and Sadako Vs. Kayako (taking the place of The Woods), more movies have been announced today including Marcus Dunstan’s (The Collector) The Neighbor. Starring The Collection’s Josh Stewart and Starry Eyes’ Alex Essoe, the flick suggests that what your neighbour is doing in the basement is probably best left alone.
Genre fans can also sink their teeth into the world premiere of Marcel Walz’s hugely-anticipated Blood Feast remake, in a glorious 4K restoration from Arrow. There’s also the little matter of the European premiere of Gregg Bishop’s (Dance Of The Dead) SiREN, which is adapted from the popular ‘Amateur Night’ segment of V/H/S fame.
Elsewhere, FrightFest 2016 will host six, must-attend special master classes, demonstrations and panel discussions which aim to provide “an exciting and comprehensive snapshot of what’s happening in the horror and fantasy genre today”.
There are also a Horror Writing Master Class, with writer/director James Moran (Severance, Cockneys Vs. Zombies), a ‘Women In Horror’ symposium hosted by Digital Spy’s Rosie Fletcher and an exclusive, must-watch demonstration by special effects maestro Dan Martin.
The guest-list is reliably impressive, too, with over half the scheduled films represented in person; including opener My Father Die, for which director Sean Brosnan and Gary Stretch will appear, Pet director Carles Torrens and star Dominic Monaghan, The Love Witch director Anna Biller and Blood Feast director Walz.
Also in attendance will be Found Footage 3D star, and popular film critic, Scott Weinberg, along with Scott Allen Perry and director Steven DeGennaro, Road Games director Abner Pastoll, The Windmill Massacre director Nick Jongerius, with stars Charlotte Beaumont, Fiona Hampton, Adam Thomas Wright and Tanroh Ishida, Enclosure director Patrick Rea and loads, loads more.
There’s also the launch of ‘The Frightfest Guide to Exploitation’ by festival co-director Alan Jones, to look forward to, along with the latest Frightfest Presents titles, the back catalogue of which will be available for purchase at the event.
Horror Channel Frightfest runs from 25th -29th August 2016 at The Vue Cinema, Shepherds Bush, London W12. Single tickets go on sale Sat 23rd July at noon and, alongside the few remaining Festival and day pass sales are available to buy online.
