Frank Grillo Will Be Back for The Purge 3

Still from The Purge 3: Election Year

Frank Grillo, who toplined The Purge: Anarchy is reportedly in negotiations to return for the third installment in Blumhouse’s very lucrative The Purge franchise.

In The Purge: Anarchy, Grillo plays Sergeant, a man set on using the evening of The Purge to settle a score but instead finds a group of people that badly need his help. The film grossed over $70 Million in the US alone, against an estimated production budget of $9 Million.

Variety reports that the actor was almost not able to return for the series’ third installment due to scheduling difficulties with his DirecTV show Kingdom but all of that appears to have been cleared up. As such, the film will begin lensing in September of 2015. Grillo also recently appeared in Captain America: Civil War, where he reprises the role of Crossbones.

James DeMonaco, who wrote and directed the first two films is penning the screenplay for the third and is also expected to direct the latest entry in the series.

The films in The Purge franchise take place in a future where one night a year, all crime is legal. Anyone not lucky enough to be secured behind double reinforced steel doors with a state-of-the-art alarm system and bulletproof glass has the potential for a very bad night.
