We Have The First Cast Announcements For The Slender Man Film

Beware the Slenderman

The Slender Man movie is fast becoming a reality, with the most recent news that I’ll Always Know What You Did Next Summer and Fox’s Sleepy Hollow director Sylvain White had been nabbed to direct the flick for Screen Gems. Production is due to begin in June and now we have the first cast announcements to pore over.

Deadline reports that Joey King (who played Christine in The Conjuring) will reportedly star alongside The Affair‘s Julia Goldani-Telles in the upcoming movie. Also tapped to take part are Annalise Basso (Captain Fantastic), Jaz Sinclar (When The Bough Breaks), Talitha Bateman (who will appear in the upcoming Annabelle: Creation) and newcomer Alex Fitzalan.

Slender Man was co-written by David Birke and Mike Scannell. According to Deadline, the movie:

centers on a tall, thin horrifying figure with preternaturally long arms and a featureless face. He is thought to be responsible for the haunting, stalking, and disappearance of countless victims

For anyone not up on their creepypasta: The Slender Man is a tall, thin, faceless man with extremely long arms. He has been cited as the inspiration for acts of real-life violence and was recently discussed at great length in Irene Taylor Brodsky’s documentary Beware the Slenderman which made its world premiere at SXSW last March and will make its world television premiere January 23, 2017 on HBO.

The Slender Man is perhaps more prominent than he’s ever been right now. The character has developed a storied history in the years since he first haunted the Internet. To say the least, he is easily the most well known creepypasta on the Worldwide Web.

The Slender Man movie is aiming for a May 18, 2018 release date.
