Listen up, you primitive screw heads: Starz has just announced that they have ordered ten episodes of a new series that ties into the Evil Dead franchise called Ash vs. Evil Dead. But that’s not even the best of it. Full details after the break!

For all of the Deadites that were beginning to worry that Bruce Campbell would never again play Ash, you have cause to rejoice. Campbell will be involved with the series in multiple capacities but most importantly, he will be reprising his role as Ash!

Starz also revealed that Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Bruce Campbell will be executive producing the series. We also learned that Raimi has signed on to direct the first episode for the cable network.

Sam Raimi. offered the following: “Evil Dead has always been a blast. Bruce, Rob, and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell the next chapter in Ash’s lame, but heroic saga.  With his chainsaw arm and his ‘boomstick,’ Ash is back to kick some monster butt. And brother, this time there’s a truckload of it.”

Bruce Campbell said this of the series being adapted for the small screen: “I’m really excited to bring this series to the Evil Dead fans worldwide – it’s going to be everything they have been clamoring for: serious deadite ass-kicking and plenty of outrageous humor.”

In the original The Evil Dead, Ash, his girlfriend, and a couple of their buddies trek to a cabin in the woods for a break from the pressures of school, studying, and day-to-day life. Shortly after the friends arrive at their destination, they discover The Book of the Dead and tape recordings of incantations from the book. Against their better judgment, they listen to the spells and unleash an ages old evil that rises from the woods and attempts to take possession of each and every one of their souls.
