Stephen King’s Dark Tower Finds its Jake Chambers

The Dark Tower - Fran Kranz

We have just learned via Variety that the feature film adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower has cast child actor Tom Taylor as Jake Chambers. The character will be the protege of  Roland Deschain (Idris Elba).

Stephen King recently confirmed that The Dark Tower has finally begun production. It has been a long and arduous process but the author himself revealed, via Twitter, that cameras have begun rolling on the project.

Idris Elba (Pacific Rim) will play Roland Deschain and Matthew McConaughey (Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation) will star as The Man in Black. Also attached is Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road) who will reportedly play Tirana. The film is lensing in South Africa, and Sony is targeting a February 17, 2017 release date.

Ron Howard was attached to direct the first installment at one point but now Nikolaj Arcel (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo 2009) is at the helm. Arcel cowrote the script with Anders Thomas Jensen, Akiva Goldsman, and Jeff Pinkner.

Past reports have alluded to a film series based on the property that would also include a TV mini series that would run in between feature film installments. So, if this does well, there will be a lot more Dark Tower to come. Stay tuned for more on The Dark Tower as it is announced!
