The Crow Remake

TheWrap is reporting that the long-planned reboot of The Crow has left Relativity. Davis Films, Highland Film Group and Electric Shadow have acquired the exclusive rights to finance, produce and distribute the redux. The site is also reporting that the goal is to maintain a similar shooting schedule to what had been laid out at Relativity. Last we heard, the goal was to begin lensing in January of 2017.

Recent reports suggest that Game of Thrones‘ Jason Momoa is in negotiations to appear in the redux, which will be helmed by Corin Hardy. Momoa will reportedly begin work on the film after wrapping production on Justice League, in which he will appear as Aquaman.

Jack Huston was on board to headline but had to back out. And Luke Evans was attached prior to Huston. Producer Edward Pressman previously told Variety that the project would go before cameras in the back half of 2016, even with Relativity Media’s financial setbacks. “Despite Relativity’s problems, we’re going ahead now,” Ed Pressman told the outlet. This latest report confirms that 2016 is out of the question but it also means that (much to the chagrin of many fans of the original) the project refuses to stay dead.

The production has already had its fair share of woes, losing two different actors who were attached to play the lead and suffering a series of false starts. This is a remake that most fans do not seem to want to see happen. But it looks like fans may not have a choice in the matter.

The storyline of The Crow sees a fallen musician being resurrected to seek vengeance on those that slaughtered him and his lover a year earlier. Stay tuned to the site in the coming months for more news on this project as it is made available.
