Chainsaw Sally Poised for a DVD Re-release and Planned as Animated Series

Poster for Chainsaw Sally.

The highly divisive (in the sense that people seem to loathe it or love it) film Chainsaw Sally is set for a DVD re-release. It will be re-issued as a double feature, alongside The Good Sisters. Both films are directed by Jimmyo Burril. The Chainsaw Sally feature film stars April Burril in the titular role. A specific re-release date for the DVD has not yet been announced but we will have more information regarding availability in 2015. This time around, the film will be distributed by Black Wolf Media.

It turns out that the re-release is targeted to co-incide with the announcement of another Chainsaw Sally project. We have also learned that Chainsaw Sally will be getting the series treatment – again. This time, it will be in the form of an animated production. The project is currently in preproduction via Bloody Bombshell Entertainment and Fatality Films.

As for the casting of the animated series, April Burril is set to reprise her role as Sally. Scream queen Debbie Rochon will also be lending her vocal talents to the production as Blondie. Nicholas Brendon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), and Tristan Risk (American Mary) are also signed on to voice characters in the forthcoming series. The project is slated to begin production early next year.

Chainsaw Sally (the film) stars April Burril as Sally and was originally released in 2004. Traumatized after witnessing the murder of her parents as a young girl, the film follows an older Sally as she grows up to be a serial killer. The Good Sisters, also starring A. Burril alongside legendary scream queen Debbie Rochon, features the duo as practicing witches who hide their discretions from their neighbors- until a new neighbor threatens their practice with his own secret life.
