Showtime must really be feeling the holiday spirit this year. Hot on the heels of the opening of the official Twin Peaks online store, the network are about to make all of our Christmas wishes come true by offering us the chance to watch every episode of the first two seasons ahead of the premiere of the brand-new installment next year.
The hit show will be available to subscribers, in all its glory, on December 26 via the Showtime On Demand and Showtime Anytime services. The channel is also streaming David Lynch’s iconic Blue Velvet, if you fancy a proper Lynchathon.
The hugely anticipated third season picks up 25 years after the events of the first two. The cast includes; Ashley Judd, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tim Roth, Trent Reznor, Michael Cera and Naomi Watts, who will join returning stars such as Lynch himself, Ray Wise and, of course, Kyle MacLachlan.
Horror fans will spot Icons including Derek Mears, Meg Foster and Matthew Lillard, along with talented youngsters such as Francesca Eastwood (Final Girl), Sara Paxton (The Innkeepers, Cheap Thrills), Sky Ferreira (The Green Inferno) and Jane Levy (Evil Dead).
The series is slated for a limited run, beginning in early 2017, on Showtime. The premiere is expected to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the series’ original bow on ABC, and will be broadcast simultaneously on-air, on demand and over the internet.
The third season of the super-popular show is being written and produced by creators and producers David Lynch and Mark Frost, with Lynch taking directing duties by himself (as it should be). The action is due to pick up twenty five years after the events of the first two seasons.
Twin Peaks followed the exploits of FBI agent Dale Cooper, who was sent to the logging town of Twin Peaks to investigate the murder of Laura Palmer. The show lasted for two seasons and developed a massive cult following. Since it was cancelled prior to the the story-line being completed, a movie, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, was released in 1992.
