Barbara Crampton Reveals Details Behind Role in Puppet Master Reboot!

Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich - Jenny Pellicer - Tate Steinsiek

Barbara Crampton sat down with Scream Magazine to dish on upcoming projects. And when the conversation turned to Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich, the actress spilled the beans on the character she will be playing and more.

From the interview, we have learned that Crampton will be playing a tour guide with a connection to Toulon from years prior. See everything she had to say below.

“I didn’t know whether they wanted people to know that my character is a tour guide and an ex-police officer but I think now it’s okay because they’ve said it was okay to post pictures of me in my uniform,” Crampton began. “I was part of the police crew that brought Andre Toulon down many years ago and then thirty years later, something is happening. There’s a convention and some puppet’s are going to be sold at this convention so a lot of people that bought puppets from Andre Toulon many years ago have come back to this first ever convention so all these people and all these puppets are brought together for the first time in a very long time and something happens. Obviously, I can’t say what happens but it’s very slyly written and there are a few different storylines going on and Craig [Zahler] has written a lot of really interesting characters that you care about so I’m really excited about that one too.”

Stay tuned to the site for more on this as we learn it. Everything we know about the redux thus far is outlined below!

Di Bonaventura Pictures (the production company behind Transformers) has joined forces with Caliber Media (Some Kind of Hate) for the Puppet Master reboot. The idea is to create a new cinematic universe based around the property, with multiple storylines. Charles Band, head of Full Moon Features (the company that distributed the original Puppet Master films) is also on board to executive produce the redux.

S. Craig Zahler (Bone Tomahawk) penned the screenplay for the new film. In addition to Crampton, Udo Kier (Blade) plays Toulon. And Thomas Lennon (Memento) and Michael Paré (The Philadelphia Experiment) will also appear. Sonny Laguna and Tommy Wiklund (We Are Monsters) assumed directorial duties.

According to a recent press release: “This completely new take on Puppet Master will maintain all of the brutally inventive puppet kills infused with the comedic tendencies that made the original franchise so popular with fans, while expanding upon Toulon’s backstory and developing richer dialogue, characters, and narratives.”

“The storyline for The Littlest Reich follows a recently divorced young man who discovers a mint condition Blade doll in his deceased brother’s closet and plans to sell the toy at a convention in Oregon celebrating the 30th anniversary of the infamous Toulon Murders.  All hell breaks loose at the Postville Lodge during the auction when a strange force animates all of the various puppets throughout the convention as they go on a bloody killing spree.”

As we’ve said before, Puppet Master is the longest running and most successful independent direct-to-video franchise ever. The David Schmoeller helmed original has seen a combined total of nine sequels plus a spinoff effort that Full Moon was not directly involved with.
