American Psycho TV Series Still in the Works at FX

American Psycho

After the initial announcement of an American Psycho television series in 2013, not a lot has been heard. But we have learned that the project is anything but dead in the water at this point.

A recent report claims that the series will be set roughly 30 years after the events depicted in the 2000 film. Patrick Bateman is now in his fifties and has taken on a protégé.

The series official description is as follows: “In the new drama series, iconic serial killer Patrick Bateman, now in his mid-50’s but as outrageous and lethal as ever, takes on a protégé in a sadistic social experiment who will become every bit his equal – a next generation American Psycho.”

The small screen adaptation of/sequel to the Bret Easton Ellis novel will be penned by Stefan Jaworski. FX and LionsGate will be co-producing the adaptation. Allison Shearmu, Jaworski and Ed Pressman have signed on as executive producers.

No word yet on the onscreen talent roster or a targeted premiere date. It’s hard to imagine anyone other than Christian Bale taking on the Patrick Bateman role. It will be interesting to see who the network taps to fill the actor’s shoes. Stay tuned to the site in the coming months for updates as they are announced by the network.
