Alternate Channing Tatum Ghostbusters Film is a Bust

“Who you gonna call?” Well, it’s not going to be Channing Tatum and Chris Pratt. As July approaches, fans of the original Ghostbusters will be exposed to a reboot centering around four female leads. There were plans for another Ghostbusters reboot occurring as well where Channing Tatum (and possibly Chris Pratt) would prove they “ain’t afraid of no ghosts.” However, recent reports have revealed that the second revival is not going to happen anytime soon, if at all.

In a recent interview with Forbes, Anthony and Joe Russo revealed that, “There is no status with that for us. There was a period there when Paul Feig was engaging Sony in talks about Ghostbusters and we were also engaging them. He was further along with his process than we were and he closed his deal so that’s the only Ghostbusters world that’s being explored right now over at Sony.” The Russo brothers continue on to say how they are preparing to focus more on the Marvel Universe.

Feig’s take on the property will be about a group of female ghostbusters taking on the supernatural of New York City. Cast members include Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones. This soon to be released version will have an extra measure of clout considering planned cameos by the original cast members including Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver, and Dan Aykroyd.

Whether it be further sequels based off this film or taking the franchise into different directions, one can argue that there should be a wait to see how this first reboot does in order to determine which way the series will go from there. Ghostbusters is scheduled to premiere in the U.S. on July 15, 2016.
