Alan Ruck Joins the Cast of Fox’s The Exorcist

Hannah Kasulka. fox new the exorcist remake will star Brianne Howey.

We have just received word that Ferris Bueller’s Day Off alum Alan Ruck (pictured below) has signed on to Fox’s small screen adaptation of The Exorcist as a series regular. Deadline reports that Ruck will play Henry, the patriarch of the Rance family. Henry was once a successful civil engineer, but after a freak accident, he is left physically disabled.

We previously announced that Fox had bumped their order for the small screen redux of The Exorcist from a pilot to a full series order. The Exorcist will be part of Fox’s fall lineup, presumably premiering sometime in September. It will air Friday nights.

In addition to Ruck, the Exorcist series stars Geena Davis, Kurt Egyiawan, Hannah Kasulka, Brianne Howey, Alfonso Herrera, and Ben Daniels.

From what we’ve gathered, Brianne Howey will be playing the character that becomes possessed. The pilot was written by Jeremy Slater (The Lazarus Effect). Rupert Wyatt will be assuming directorial duties on the first episode. The show is being described as “a propulsive, serialized psychological thriller following two very different men tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession and confronting the face of true evil.”

Stay tuned for more on this as it breaks. In the meantime, you can check out the trailer in the player below.
