It was recently reported that scream queen Adrienne Barbeau was on the casting roster for the upcoming threequel to Jeepers Creepers. However, the actress has taken to her Facebook page to clarify. Her statement reads: “Contrary to what has been reported, I will not be joining the cast of Jeepers Creepers 3. It’s a great script and if you liked the first two, you’ll love this one”
The interesting thing about her statement is that she acknowledges having read the script, which leads us to believe that she was involved or was at least being considered for a role at one point. Barbeau has yet to disclose any further details. But we will keep you posted should we learn anything more.
The recently released outline reads as follows: “Trish Jenner is now a mother of a teenage son named Darry, named after the brother she lost 23 years ago. Trish has a recurring nightmare where her son suffers the same fate as her brother did, killed by the Creeper. Determined to prevent this from happening, Trish, who is now a rich and powerful woman, sets out on a final quest with Jack Taggart Sr. and Jr. to end the Creeper’s reign of terror once and for all. The Creeper fights back in gory glory as its enemies grow closer than ever before to learning the secret of its dark origins.”
If the above synopsis is accurate, we will be seeing an awful lot of Gina Phillips as Trish in the new film. We previously reported that Phillips would be back but from the sound of it, this will very much be her story.
The sequel is lensing in Louisiana. We also know that the Creeper’s truck with the BEATNGU license plate will be heavily featured in the latest installment. As we previously reported, Jeepers Creepers 3 is now filming.
About a year ago, a Canadian casting agency actually pulled down a casting notice after concern about director Victor Salva’s past arose. One fan later reached out to Stan Spry (one of the film’s producers) on Twitter to see if the project had been nixed, altogether. Spry reported that they were seeking domestic distribution for the film and that the picture was still very much alive.
What we know about the third installment in the series so far is that Victor Salva will be returning to write and direct. Actors Jonathan Breck (The Creeper), Gina Phillips (Trish), and Brandon Smith (Sergeant Tubbs) are all expected to return. Stan Shaw (The Monster Squad) will also be appearing
Last we had heard, Francis Ford Coppola (who produced the first two) had signed on to co-produce the threequel with Odyssey Media, and The Cartel and Kirk D’Amico was on board to executive produce.
The two previous films collectively grossed over $120 million at the global box office. Stay tuned for more on this title as it is announced!
