New on Netflix: August 14th, 2015

New on Netflix

New on Netflix is a weekly feature here at Wicked Horror where we take a look at the most recent horror-themed additions to everyone’s favorite streaming service. Things may always be a hit or miss and it can be hard to predict and even harder to sort through titles, so let us help you out with that and take a look at what the month of August has to offer.

Inner Demons

Probably only for found footage and possession movie completests, Inner Demons is pretty formulaic and by the numbers. People who already feel that there are too many possession movies on the marketplace—or found footage, or even found footage possession for that matter—would do best to stay away. But if it’s your thing, by all means check it out. It’s not a horrible way to waste an August evening.

Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein

There are a lot of horror-loving parents out there who probably want to take their time introducing kids to the genre. Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein is one of the best ways to go about doing it. This is definitely aimed at a younger audience, but still provides a basic overview of the classic monsters and who they are. It’s fairly risk-free viewing and, at the same time, has at least a little something for adults to enjoy in that it is a bit of a nod to the classic Abbott and Costello run-ins with the Universal monsters.

If you’re looking for a good horror on Netflix, the classics are always a safe bet. Even if you’ve seen Wes Craven’s A Nightmare on Elm Street a dozen times—probably more—it’s nice knowing that it’s always there if you need it. And if you’ve never seen it before, there’s no time like the present. It’s one of the most effective, imaginative horror features ever made and launched one of the most iconic franchises of all time.
